If the deficit hawks are successful, they will do major damage to society and the economy. They are promoting a deficit hysteria in an effort to force the government to enact deep cuts in vital social programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. This fiscal austerity movement would also prevent the government from using deficit spending to speed the recovery of the economy when it is in recession. And it would inhibit us from making the crucial public investments in education, technology, energy, and transportation that are necessary to improve society and lay the foundations for future economic growth.

For political junkies like me, there a truth that escapes most others it appears: debt & deficits were not even talked about in conservative circles before Obama was elected.

These deficit hawks are using this situation in an effort to gain control of the government while trying to hide their true purpose. They believe that they are the only ones who should control this country and in the process they are destroying the true purpose of this country. They are selling us to the highest bidder and all in the name of power and money. They have caused the loss of jobs and severely damaged the safety net all in an effort to get in with the rich. You can't continue to do what they want to do without damaging this country. They allowed the big businesses to move millions of jobs overseas so the they could get cheap slave style labor and increased profits. They didn't even pay attention to the damage that was done to the people and our economy. We are sinking into 3rd world status because they have taken away good salaries from here and now China is in a better situation than we have here. Our infrastructure and way of life is spiraling out of control and sinking fast because of the greed of the rich. The GOP has such a narrow view that they are blaming the current administration on the crap that they did. Now they want to take from regular American just to ease life for the rich and powerful. The saddest part of this is that they think that they are justified. They hate Obama but will not admit that they hate him because he is black. They have fought and blocked him even when he put forth programs that they had pushed for years. They have turned their backs on the country and now only work for the powerful. They lie to us and expect us to accept them all the while they are taking programs and things away from us and telling us it for our best. Don't piss on my leg and tell me it raining and that is just what the GOP is doing.

Richard: Great Article! The bull-pucky served out by the Conservative Movement is spelled out in this article in a very coherent manner. In my humble way I've been pounding the table on these various issues on Newsvine at least for the past year. I wrote a recent article on Newsvine regarding similar issues [nothing in comparison to what you seeded] and got no traction.

I will keep pounding the table as I'm sure you will. Friend request sent.
